Yesterday most boats came in with nothing. I
Hurd captains complaining on my way out this morning. so I figured I need to
find a piece of wood floating ( needle in the haystack ) so I headed out deep
26 miles out. A fish came up on the teaser. my mate sean hooked him up, at that
point the rigger went off but nothing was there, so I turned the boat and from
the tower I saw 2 birds, as I got close to them I saw there was a nice
school of fish. We hooked 4 more on 20 lbs spinning Tackeal then the school
left. By the way they were acting I figured there had to be a turtle or board
in the area. So I swing
the boat around again. From the tower I saw some flying fish getting up, so I
headed towards them, as I got close I spotted the fish and the stick in the
water striking 6 inches out. Then it was game on! There was nice fish, big
gaffers and nice size schoolies. We batted 1000 percent today, we managed to
fill the box with every last one of them. all I can say is good thing I had 2
good luck charms on my boat (Tracee, and Nicole)! Big thanks out to Matt, Drew,
Tracee and Nicole.

Islamorada
fishing report by Capt Kevin Brown aboard the charter boat Gold Reserve 8/01/12
Well I have to tell you that it was one of the
toughest weeks I have ever seen in 23 years as far as dolphin fishing goes. The
last 3 days I had the pleaser of fishing with a great family out of Texas. The Hinckley’s - sons David and Matt father Jeff
and our good luck charm Jana (aka) Mom
All
I can say is if I had to fish a couple of tuff days with someone I am glad it
was these guys. Are first day we anchored on the reef and caught some
yellowtail, grouper and cero mackerel. Then at the end of the day we caught
this monster barracuda. On our second day we went offshore and hit a school of
small dolphin then we headed to the Islamorada hump and caught a couple of nice
black Finn tunas. Finally on our 3rd day we went out and the dolphin
were back. Big patches of weeds for miles. We hit a couple of small schools and
then we found a pack of some real nice
ones. The rest of the day we picked away all day and put a nice catch together.
Big thanks out to the Hinckley’s for having patient on the fishing

Islamorada
fishing Report from Capt Kevin Brown aboard the charter boat gold reserve
7/19/12
Today
I took my good friends from Cabo san Lucas out fishing. Nancy, John, Tim and
marry And showed them how we do it here on the east coast. Islamorada style!!
We stopped
for live bait because the fish are not eating well. After throwing the net one time we had 75 cigar minnows and
we were off. We trolled out to 19 miles and the fish were everywhere. Big schools
of heavy lifters and gaffers 100 fish in a school. Like I suspected the fish
would not eat anything but live bait. Luckily for us we took 10 minutes to
catch them. They pulled on mahi until their arms fell off and asked me to stop
. I made them catch a couple more and we went home with are box full. Just another
awesome day on the gold reserve
Thank you

Islamorada
fishing report from Capt Kevin aboard the charter boat gold reserve
On Monday
7/16/12 we took out the smith family offshore. Fishing started off slow. We got
out about 25 miles offshore and we hooked into a blue marlin. He came up
jumping and shaking his head took out allot of line and then we pulled the
hook. Very exciting never the less. I decided to keep going offshore out at 30
miles we finally ran into some weed and birds . 10 minutes into the weed we
found the south American high flier that broke loose from a long line. It was
loaded up with fish gaffer and heavy lifters it was fast action for over an
hour. The smith kids wanted the high flier. So we put it on the boat and
brought it home. That night the 2 strobe lights on it went on in their back
yard . pretty cool

Islamorada
fishing report from Capt Kevin Brown aboard the charter boat Gold Reserve
6/31/12
On are
evening trip we went 2 for 3 on the tarpon and also landed 4 sharks in 3 hours
7/1/12
This morning we headed out. The seas were very calm the dolphin bite was slow
yesterday so I headed for the Islamorada Hump. Aboard I had a father Paul and
his 2 young sons .On our way out we missed a big wahoo L. But when we got to the
hump the black fin tuna were biting good and it was none stop action the hole
time we were there. Catching these fish on 20lb spinning tackle is a blast. Anyways
while we were catching the tuna a 200lbs blue marlin came from under the boat
and engulfed one of our tuna. This blue marlin came up tail walking 50 feet off
our transom what an awesome site!!! This alone was worth going out there. Anyways
on the way home we caught a monster barracuda to end the day. Paul and his 2
sons will be going back out on the Gold Reserve Tuesday evening to catch tarpon
and sharks.

Brown Aboard the charter boat Gold Reserve
Hello
everyone
Weather
still calm seas flat. Went out today missed a blue marlin couldn’t get him off
my teaser. Then we hooked a sailfish after a little bit we pulled the hooks.
Then I found 3 slammers swimming down a weed line. Sean pitched a bait at them
but they didn’t look at it. couldn’t turn boat around to get back on them with
live bait. customers sleeping. Moral of the story don’t drink the night before
a fishing trip and don’t show up half hour late.

Hello everyone, it’s been a
while! J
We’ve been busy fishing every
day. The weather and the seas have been sunny and calm.
The last week of May heading into
June, we had the Baker Family from Tucson, Arizona book us for an entire week.
It was a great week for all of us!
The Baker’s included Wes,
Christine, and their son’s Sam and Noah. What a nice family! They enjoyed a lot
of action pulling in Dolphin, Permit, and Yellowtail Snapper. At times, it was challenging due to the lack
of current that particular week but we were able to make the best of it. We had
2 Blue Marlin up on our baits but couldn’t get them to stick. It provided some
great shots for us though. In the end,
all I can say is “thank you!”. It was a pleasure fishing with the Baker Family!
The next week, the current
picked back up. We fished for 2 days but
unfortunately, the fish were nowhere to be found. 90% of the boats returned empty
handed. By the 3rd day, the current brought in a new batch of fish
and the Dolphin were everywhere! Each year in June, we get a run of small
Dolphin for 7 to 10 days. We never know what week it will be but this year they
showed up about 3 days ago. You have to find 300 to 400, catch 80 to 100 and then you end up with 30
or so keepers for the freezer. It’s a lot of fun on the 12 lb. jig rods. After
having 2 days in a row without fish, it’s definitely a welcomed site!
The following week, the
Wanamaker Boys came down and we were in the fish all day. Tim MacAfee and his
gang also joined us and yesterday was another busy one.
The “Good Ol’ Boys” from Lake
Okeechobee (AKA Cheeseburgers old gang) came down and once again another
successful day. A great time was had by all! Sorry you couldn’t make it Dave;
it was kind of quiet without you! J
I would like to send out a
special thanks to all of my repeat customers that come back and fish with me
year after year. I am truly grateful! I see a lot of the boats just sitting at
the dock day after day and I am very fortunate to be able to go fishing with
great old friends and also have the opportunity to meet new customers.
P.S. Sorry if I left anyone
out. The days are starting to blend together and I’m just not as young as I
used to be! Ha-ha!
Thank you to everyone,

Hello
everyone Islamorada fishing report Capt Kevin Brown aboard the charter boat
Gold Reserve
We
have been fishing every day. Sorry, I don’t always have time to post every
trip. Tuesday 22nd I took out my good friend Sal from New Jersey. The current
had died down inside of 20 miles over the weekend and there were big patches of
weeds loaded with dolphin schoolies, gaffers and slammers. By Monday all of the
water was picked over so I knew I would have to go deep. I took the gold
reserve out to 25 miles offshore and me Sal and Haden loaded the box with
schoolies. Then we headed out to 30 miles and we found a warbird. We tracked
him down and under him was two 40 lbs plus bulls and two 30lbs plus cows. My
mate Haden casted to one of the cows and hooked her up at that point the other
cow came up and tried to eat the ballyhoo on the flat line we missed her and
she was stung. Then we pulled the hook on the cow. Then my mate Haden casted to
one of the bulls and hooked him up after that while Sal was fighting the big
bull Haden made attempts to hook the other bull but he was running around like
a chicken with his head cut off and we were not able to present a bait to him
so 30 minutes into the fight just before we gaff the one bull left on we pulled
the hooks, guess god didn’t want them to die today. Also this is his way of
keeping me humble. After the smoke settled we reflected back on all of this and
realized we had an awesome day. Sal is a great guy and a good friend and I
always have a great time fishing with him. He has fished with me many times and
has a great attitude. Thanks Amigo

Fishing
report
Islamorada
Florida Keys – Capt Kevin Brown aboard the charter boat Gold Reserve
Today
we took out a great family from new jersey. The seas were calm and the fish
were biting. We caught 300 pilchards on our way out. And some blue runners. Then
we started trolling for the Islamorada hump. On our way out we caught 2 nice dolphin.
When we got to the hump and dumped 100 pilchards
over hoping to raise the black fin tuna. This did not raise the tuna so we dropped
for the amberjacks. On the radio you could hear some of the boats calling in
other boats to come over and take their school of dolphin. they were already
loaded up.8:30 a.m. wow !!!! Anyways we hooked
4 and lost 2 to the sharks one was eaten by a 600 lbs. tiger shark right next
to the boat. So we kept one for dinner and released another one. After that we
took off looking for dolphin. didn’t take long filled the box and headed for
home. Another awesome day fishing here in Islamorada.
Thank you

Hello
Everyone
Fishing
Report 4/2/12 from Capt Kevin Brown aboard the charter boat Gold Reserve here
in Islamorada, Florida.
Saturday,
Sunday and Monday the wind stopped blowing and the ocean was very nice and
calm.
On
Saturday we went out and crushed the yellowtail snapper. Every drift we got a
bite. After that we trolled out to the hump and caught the black fin tuna. It
was a great day !!!
Then
on Sunday I took out Jacob and Ham. I have to tell you these two little guys
are by far the best fishermen I have had on my boat this year. Naturals by God,
it was like having 3 mates on board !!! We caught the yellow tail and then went
looking for the wahoo and dolphin. We didn’t find them so we hooked up some big
amberjacks. Problem was the sharks were not going to let us have them. So we
went in and live baited the reef with big baits called speedos. Anyways it was
a little slow but we had a blast. Jacob and Ham went back out that evening and
caught 5 sharks over 100 lbs.
Then
on Monday we went back out and headed for the hump. This time these two
fishermen beat the sharks and landed 4 big amberjacks. After that we went
looking for the wahoo and dolphin but did not find them. So we went permit
fishing. We could see the permit and get baits in front of them but they would
not eat. So we caught some big barracudas. We headed for home and they are back
out again tonight doing a tarpon and shark trip
Yesterday Jacob
and his dad Eric went out fishing with us. We headed to the hump
where we caught the blackfin tunas. after leaving the hump we put the dolphin
spread out and suddenly we saw a 200 lb blue marlin swimming down sea. I
turned the boat too put the lures in front of him and he was hot on
them. My mate Haden watched the fish whack the lure with his bill then he
dropped the lure back and hooked the fish up. After he dumped on the reel and
an hour long fight we pulled the fish in the boat for pictures and then
released him. It was an amazing catch!!
Thank
you

Today
the wind finally dropped down. It was a beautiful day off Islamorada. We headed
out with long time customers trolling offshore for wahoo and dolphin.
On our way to the hump we caught a 25 pound wahoo and one dolphin.
The black fin tuna were biting well. After catching plenty of them we dropped
for an amberjack which we hooked up right away but the sharks were not
going to let us have it. There was a lot of sargassum weed coming through so we
ventured off looking for dolphin. We only found one more after looking for
an hour and trolled for home. We had a great time with wonderful long time
customers, the fish bit and it was a beautiful day here in Islamorada.

On
Wednesday we went out with a steady 25 knot wind. We went to
the bait patch where mom and dad and the 2 boys were sick.
Grandpa asked if I could take them back and drop them off so we did. Then
Grandpa and Grandma - Christy and Cal headed out with me and first mate Haden.
We trolled out to the hump, 12 miles offshore in 4 to 8 foot seas. We found a
war bird on the deck and caught a schooly dolphin under him. At that point we
were close to the hump so we put the tuna feathers out. Two minutes later a
25 pound bull dolphin jumped on one. Well I have to tell you it was quite
a fight in those seas with such light tackle and after 15 minutes we pulled the
hook. It was just not his day to die. When we got to the hump the small black
fin tuna were biting very good. After taking 15 of those we headed to look for
some dolphin when we found a pallet floating with dolphin and wahoo. My
customers did great fishing in these seas. After playing with that we went and
caught a 50 pound amberjack and headed home. That’s what we call
a victory at sea kind of day.

Islamorada
Fishing report from Capt Kevin Brown fishing on the Gold reserve charter boat.
The
wind
has been blowing for weeks, however we are getting out almost every day. The
current has recently picked back up again , and there were some
weed lines in 300 to 400 feet of water with Mahi on them. Some
Mahi weighed up to 40 pounds. Every one that fished that day managed
to catch at least one. It was a great day out there and we all had lots of
fun. Today the big amberjacks were biting the second our bait hit the
bottom. We also caught some black fin tuna and tried to find some dolphin and
wahoo. The tuna and dolphin did not want to play today so, we went in
on a patch reef the last hour of the day. We anchored up and caught a
dozen yellow tail and six nice mutton snappers. The coffin was full at the
end of the trip, what a great day!
next day 3/23/12 dolphine, wahoo, amberjacks, tuna fish are jumpin in the boat get down here

today
March 10th www.goldreservecharters.comI took out Julie and Roy that went out with me on Thursday and caught lots of
snapper. (Well Julie caught lots of snapper!!!) We headed out and stopped at a
bait patch. Made one throw with the cast net caught 100 cigar minnows. Easy living
we had a live well full of blue runners from the day before and another live well
full of cigars. We trolled to the Islamorada hump using 2 wahoo rods down deep
and 2 lures in the riggers hopping to find some wahoo, dolphin, tuna or maybe a
sailfish on our way out. The seas were finally calm and it was a beautiful calm
day out. No bite on the way out but when we got to the hump the black fin tuna
were biting very well. After catching a bunch of them we dropped down and the
amberjack were biting the second you hit the bottom. They each caught 2. The cooler
was full and we trolled back for home . Another successful day on the Gold Reserve.
Check out the video. I have to say Julie is a lucky lady to have such a understanding
husband .most men that have their wife out fish them 3 to 1 would not bring her
back out again J just kidding today Julie let Roy catch up with her
and redeem himself J thanks guys I had a blast fishing with you 2
